Specialist coaching

Goalkeeper training on the North Shore

Keepers are specialists — they deserve specialist coaching that team practice almost never provides.

At most youth team practices, the keeper faces shots for ten minutes and spends the rest of the session as a target. Dedicated GK training flips that: a full hour on handling, set position, footwork patterns, angles, 1v1s, distribution, and the courage and communication that make a young keeper trustworthy between the posts.

Find coaches on My Soccer Coach with goalkeeping listed as a specialty, check their playing and coaching background, and book at their posted rate. Every coach is background-checked and verified before taking bookings.

Common questions

What does GK training cover?
Handling and catching technique, set position and footwork, shot-stopping, dealing with crosses and 1v1s, distribution with both feet and hands, and game-reading — scaled to the keeper's age and level.
My keeper is 9 — too young for specialist training?
Not at all. Early technical habits (how to catch, how to set, how to fall safely) are far easier to build than to fix later. Sessions at that age are kept fun and game-like.
Does the coach bring equipment?
Coaches bring the essentials — balls, cones, bibs. Your keeper just needs gloves, water, and appropriate footwear for turf or grass.
